I am happy with the final versions of my magazines as I feel that they have improved a lot from my first attempt. They have improved because of the feedback I have been getting from my teachers, they advised me to move my stories to the right hand side of my front cover so that it looks more organised, they advised me to make my headings bigger and bolder on my double page spread and they told me to use up as much space as I could on my contents page.

Q3 what kind of institution might distribute your media product and why?
I conducted some research to find out who could publish and distribute my magazine. I researched mixmag which is the main Dance music magazine on the UK market. I discovered that it was published and distributed by Development Hell. Because of this Development Hell may also want to publish and distribute my magazine so that they own a larger segment of the market for Dance music magazines.
Q2 How does your media product represent particular social groups?
How does your
media product represent particular social groups?
I have represented
the social group affixed to my magazine as young and ‘ready to party’. On my
double page spread the way the model talks when he is being interviewed is that
everyone who reads the magazine loves clubbing. I have also represented them as fashionable
due to the costume the models wear in the photos. The use of bright colours
such as purple and pink represents the group as vibrant. The camera angle
portrays the group as dominant and big because it views one of the models from
a low angle. The lighting makes the model on the front page stand out from the
background. Also the model looks straight at the camera which is inviting the
group t o buy the magazine.
The attitude that
comes across from the model’s pose on the front cover is that the group has a
laid back approach. For example his bpdy langauage (his arms are folded). This
comes across that he is very laid back and doesn’t care about most thngs. This
is also seen as a persona that this group would like to achieve.

contents page final cover
This is my final version of my contents page. I like how it is organised into separate columns so that it is easier to read. This is better than my previous version where there was no separation and you couldn't tell what pages were in which section. I also like the colours as they are conventional of the genre and stand out on the page.
This meets the target audience because of the language used. The language used is quite informal and the audience are often known to be informal.
double page spread final version
This is the final version of my front cover. I like the pull quote that says 'It's all about next summer' because it stands out from the page. In order to do this I put two copies of the quote on the page. One in white and one in black. This means that the white and black combine and stand out on the page. I also like how i made the questions in the article in white and the answers in black so you can distinguish what is a question and what is an answer.
This appeals to the target audience because it has a purple background which is a vibrant colour. It also has a lot of informal language used in the answers and the questions.

front cover final version
This is the final version of my front cover. I am happy with it because it is better than when I started off and it is a lot better than my preliminary work. Things I changed from he previous version because of feedback from my teachers was to add a banner with some artists. i made the banner yellow to fit in with the colour scheme. I also like the background and the central image. My background is a vast improvement of my previous background as it was just a plain purple background. This current background gives a feel of being in a warm country which the audience will enjoy. I also like the stories because they stand out on the page. I like the banner across the bottom of the page because it tells you some other features of the magazine.
This appeals to the target audience because of the background as they will see it and think of a hot place such as Ibiza which is a very popular destination for young people.
This is proof to show that I have edited my images. I edited my images using mainly the eraser tool. I erased the background and then I zoomed in to erase smaller parts. I also used the magic wand tool to erase large parts quickly. Overall I am happy with the editing I have done because it removes the background and looks good.

flat plans
This is the flat plan for my front cover. I would like it to be organised like this because it is a good structure and it is quite conventional of a magazine of this genre.
I would like my double page spread to be organised like this because it is conventional. Most double page spreads have a main image on the left hand side followed by text on the right. I wanted to follow this because I want to stick with what I know people like, if I try it differently and it doesn't work, then my magazine might not be successful. I wanted to add a pull quote because it entices people to read and they wouldn't just flick past the page.
I would like my contents page to look like this. This is because it is conventional and it is organised well. It has the stories organised into sections so you can easily find the page you want. This is the main job of a contents page so therefore it would be successful.
images for my magazine
For this image i used a medium shot. I chose this shot because it shows the model's head and torso, this then shows his hair, any accessories and some items of clothing. I took the photos in my house. I took it against my wall because I knew the background wouldn't really matter as I was going to edit it out when constructing my magazine. I had my model just do a standard pose. This is because the target audience are young and are often seen to not care about much. This pose makes him look like he doesn't care which means he then connects with the audience and forms a bond. I also put sunglasses on my model because a lot of young people wear them when it's sunny. It also adds an element of mystery to him because you can't see all of his face.
For this image I used a low-angle medium shot. I chose this shot because it looks at him from a low angle so it portrays him as big and dominant. I chose for it to be medium yet again so you can see his torso and face in detail. I told my model to fold his arms because it has negative connotations and it shows that he has a bit of an attitude, which would mean he connects with the audience.
For this image I used a medium shot. I chose this shot because it shows his face and clothing in detail, which is important in a magazine. I also held the camera slightly to the left so that he is looking at the camera at an angle. I did this to try and vary my images and show different aspects of the model. Again I went for the standard pose with his arms by his side which has connotations that he doesn't care.
For this image I chose a close up shot. This is done to show the face in more detail. I had the model wear red lipstick to make her lips stand out, this is because the lips are often considered a seductive part of the female body. I had her hair move around because it portrays her as a bit of a 'wild child' and that she likes dancing which will mean that she connects with the audience yet again. I had her put her fingers on her chin because this portrays that she is thinking and may want to make the reader read on to see what she is thinking about.
